While looking up a term I saw in another article about transmisogyny, the “cotton ceiling.” The first part of the link was the e-mail exchange between a transwoman and a cis lesbian, with the transwoman explaining to the other woman what the cotton ceiling is, and the cis woman repeatedly misgendering transwomen and insisting that they’re really men.
I was expecting, after the quoted e-mail exchange, some commentary on transphobia and trans* exclusion from the rest of the LGBT community. Instead what I got was some radscum bullshit cheering on the cis woman in the e-mail exchange for being transhobic, and following up with a heaping dose of her own transmisogyny, blaming transwomen for ruining things for lesbians. And then I got to see way too many transphobic comments, because man, radscum sure like to cheer each other on when it comes to being horrible to trans* folk, especially transwomen.
I have had an absolutely shit day, and I got to cap it off with this. I’m fucking depressed and tired, and I’m going to bed. Hopefully for a long time.
